Parade of Lights
December 6 is your chance to show what Christmas on the prairie is all about.
The Logan County Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Sterling, Inc. are keeping the Parade of Lights alive with the 2012 event themed “Christmas on the Prairie.” It is time to collect a couple of creative minds and a few handy craftsmen and put your idea of Christmas celebrated on the prairie in the parade.
The Parade of Lights will be held 6 p.m. Dec. 6. Deadline for registration is Dec. 3. Entries can be mailed to Downtown Sterling Inc. P.O. Box 863, Sterling, CO 80751, or fax to 9709-522-4082.
There is no entry fee this year, and cash prizes will still be awarded to the top float entries.
Floats must be lit with Christmas lights, powered by a battery or generator, a system that can be seen by spectators from the street. Walkers are encouraged to throw candy, but not from the float.
The only Santa in the parade will be provided by the parade committee.
The committee is also accepting applications for booths such as hot cocoa and coffee, baked goods, crafts, seasonal products along the parade route. This will be a great opportunity to promote an agency or organization of Logan County.
Hot cocoa will also be served in the Chamber lobby from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
This year’s parade will start at Front and Main Street, go north on Front to Poplar, go west on Poplar to Fourth Street, south on Fourth Street to Main Street and east on Main Street to Front Street.
