Five awards were presented at our Annual Banquet, held on Feb 18. 

Below are the descriptions, and pictures of winners.

Description 2003 Winners

Citizen of the Year:      established in 1965 

 40th anniversary of presenting this award!

History

 Nominated by:  Anyone

Award winner chosen by: annual banquet committee, including present and immediately-past Presidents, community and chamber leaders. 

Award:  Plaque

Criteria: 

¨       Resident of Logan County

¨       Presented to a person who demonstrates the qualities of a leader, volunteer, contributor (not always financial), neighbor, and friend of Logan County and it’s citizens. 

¨       Nominator must provide qualifying information

 

 

Mrs. Jan Nixon (2002 winner) presented by Mr. Curtis Long (right) -
 (2001 Citizen of the Year)

Business-Person of the year:   established in 1993         History

Nominated by:  Anyone

Award winner chosen by: annual banquet committee, including present and immediately-past Presidents, community and chamber leaders.

Award:  Plaque

Criteria:

¨       Affiliated with a Chamber of Commerce Member-Business

¨       Presented to someone who is an example of a dedicated leader, contributor (not always financial) and caretaker of the spirit of entrepreneurship while serving the business community.

¨       Nominator must provide qualifying information

 

 

Mr. Chris Dinsdale (right, 2001 Business Person of the Year) presenting 2002 Business Person of the Year award.  Presented to:  Delinda Korrey, owner of the South Platte Sentinel newspaper.

Ambassador of the Year:         established in 2000                History

Nominated by:  any active member of the Ambassadors Committee

Award winner chosen by: vote of the Ambassador’s Committee. 

Award:  Certificate, dinner for two, any Chamber of Commerce Restaurant.

Criteria: 

¨       Meeting Attendance

¨       Ribbon Cuttings

¨       Fund-Raiser Attendance & Assistance

¨       Recruiting

¨       BAH attendance

¨       Board of Directors Members and Co-Chair’s are not exempt.

 

 

Mr. John Bacon accepting 2002 Ambassador of the Year award from Mrs. Lori Davison (not pictured), 2001 Ambassador of the Year recipient.  Mr. Bacon works for the  Bank of Colorado.

Customer Service All-Star Business of the Year:         established in 2000

Nominated by:  those on the Board of Directors or Ambassador’s Committee

Award winner chosen by: Ballot Vote of the Membership. 

Award:  Plaque

Criteria:  This award is dedicated to those businesses that excel in making their customers feel special.  Nominated businesses must be a Chamber Member in Good Standing, and the following criteria should be considered, 

¨       Success of the business

¨       How they market themselves

¨       Community involvement (not necessarily financial)

¨       Personal Attention

¨       How they make the customer feel

¨       Nominators should provide supporting information

 

 

Mr. Ron Lorenzo (left) accepting 2002 Customer Service all-star award on behalf of Barne's Pharmacy.  Presented by 2001 Customer-Service All-Star winner, Paul Mauchow (on behalf of Stewart Title Co.)  Barne's Pharmacy went on to win this award again in 2004!

Best Supporting Business:       established in 2000

Nominated by:  Any Ambassador

Award winner chosen by: Board of Directors 

Award:  Plaque

Criteria: The Best Supporting Business Award is Dedicated to those Chamber of Commerce member businesses who go above and beyond to help lift the Chamber to new heights of excellence.  Financial Contribution has no bearing on this award.  It is all about a Company’s time, effort, and people.  The following Criteria apply:

¨       Chamber of Commerce business in good standing.

¨       Visibility at Chamber Activities.

¨       Hours spent working on Chamber of Commerce projects or committees.

¨       Company participation and involvement with the Chamber of Commerce.

¨       Effort

¨       Enthusiasm

¨       Nominators should provide supporting information.

All nomination forms would be received by designated Chamber of Commerce staff.  Staff will document names and addresses, as well as award nomination, then turn the nominations over to the proper entities.  Each nominee in each category will receive a letter of congratulation from the president & an invitation to the Annual Banquet.  Nominations for each year will be returned to the Chamber office for proper filing.
